The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to be the local provider of premier leadership experiences for girls. GSSEM serves over 24,000 girls and 8,000 volunteers in Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Sanilac and parts of Wayne, Monroe and Livingston Counties. The girls join us as young as five years of age and may stay through high school. Their entire time as Girl Scouts is filled with experiences that allow them to Discover + Connect + Take Action – the 3 keys to leadership. The dedicated staff and program offerings make GSSEM the organization of choice for girls and their families, and for caring adults, who are committed to the Girl Scout Mission.  GSSEM Girl Scouts are given an unmatched variety of girl-led, girl-fueled experiences supported by volunteers and staff throughout the council area.

Under the longtime leadership of the retiring CEO, GSSEM has strengthened its internal operations and positioned the organization for a new era of growth and impact.  GSSEM is poised to welcome a new CEO who will leverage the organization’s assets and momentum to elevate its profile in the community and expand partnerships that will support the efforts of the staff and thousands of volunteers to fulfill its mission.  The new CEO will be a passionate spokesperson for community-centered girls leadership development and a sophisticated executive leader with a record of building strong long-term partnerships with the private sector, community-based organizations, and philanthropic organizations.  S/he/they will be fluent in principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and bring experience leading cross-functional teams to accomplish shared goals, leveraging the talents of a committed board, and stewarding GSSEM’s financial resources to ensure sustainable health and vibrancy into the future.
