Overview: MADRE is an international organization "fighting for feminist futures". Through grantmaking, organizational strengthening, and legal advocacy, MADRE aids and advocates for communities facing war and disaster. MADRE hopes to end gender violence, advance climate justice, and create lasting peace. Funding Areas: Community-based women's organizations, especially those "under the radar" of larger aid funders. Focuses include young women and girls, Indigenous women, Afro-descendant women, LGBTIQ peoples, and people with disabilities. MADRE also provides grants for projects such as shelters for survivors of violence, health clinics, and seed banks.
