The Global Fund

Overview: The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria mobilizes and invests more than $4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries. The goal of the partnership is to eliminate AIDS, Tuberculosis, and malaria as epidemics around the world. Recently, the Global Fund rolled out its Gender Equality Strategy, outlining its approach to funding in a way that highlights women's rights. According to The Global Fund's website, "The funding model runs in three-year cycles that correspond with our donor Replenishment cycles... In each funding cycle, the Global Fund allocates donor funds to eligible countries. Countries then apply for their funding after engaging in an inclusive consultation at the country level. After technical review and approval, countries implement their grants. Evaluation and oversight continues throughout implementation to monitor progress and performance."
